Balakot (Urdu: بالاکوٹ), is a city in Mansehra District within the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The city was destroyed through the 2005 earthquake and later rebuilt with the help of the Authorities of Pakistan and Saudi Public Help for Pakistan Earthquake Victims (SPAPEV)[1], a Saudi reduction group. A separate challenge, initiated by the Authorities of Pakistan ‘New Balakot Metropolis’ is being developed close to Mansehra, with plans to relocate the inhabitants of two Union Councils of Balakot, demarcated as a Crimson Zone.
