Attacks imperil girls’ education in Swat Valley – 20 Oct 08

The Pakistani government says that more than 120 girls’ schools have been burned down or attacked in the Swat Valley region.

It is estimated that at least 50,000 students have been affected in a region where only 27 per cent of women can read of write.
