“Two-day tour for families to archaeological & heritage sites in Swat Valley”
The Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department is organizing a two-day tour for the families to visit archaeological and heritage sites in the scenic Swat Valley in the upcoming August.
The tour titled as “Heritage Caravan & Seminar on the Sustainable Archaeological Tourism in Swat Valley” is aimed at highlighting the ancient archaeological and heritage sites and attracting tourists to the scenic valley.
The participants will arrive Swat from Islamabad and Peshawar in two separate groups.
Both the groups from Islamabad and Peshawar on way to Swat will visit archaeological site at Takht Bhai and will then proceed to Barikot to visit the famous archaeological site at Bazira on the first day.
After arriving Mingora and Saidu Sharif, the participants will also visit Jahanabad Bhudda in Swat.
On the second day of the tour, the two groups will leave for sightseeing in various areas of Swat Valley. According to programme, Group-1 will visit Swat Museum while Group-2 will visit Butkara Stupa. Similarly, Group-1 will leave for visiting Butkara Stupa and Group-2 will come to Saidu Sharif to have a visit to the museum.
Both groups will also pay visit to Udegram and other archaeological sites including Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi-era Mosque and Amlukdara Stupa.

Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department, Muhammad Tariq, and In-charge Marketing and Media, Hassina Shaukat, said that the heritage caravan is aimed at highlighting archaeological and ancient sites located in the scenic Swat Valley.
They said the activity will help attract more tourists to the mini-Switzerland of Pakistan and provide an opportunity to tourists for enjoyment and entertainment.
